Greenspring Media and Godengo Partner to Launch Two New Regional Web Portals for Minnesota Monthly and Midwest Home Magazines

October 1, 2006

Emeryville, CA – October 1, 2006 -- Two of Minnesota’s most widely read regional lifestyle magazines, Minnesota Monthly and Midwest Home magazines, have partnered with Godengo, Inc., the leading Web solutions company for magazine publishers, to completely re-style the magazines’ Web presence into two highly interactive and dynamic regional Web portals.

Attracted by the clear, elegant design that is typical of other Websites created by Godengo, Greenspring Media wanted a similar Web presence for Minnesota Monthly and Midwest Home, two of their most popular publications. When they learned that Godengo’s Rivista software solution allowed them to easily update their online magazine content as well as generate new revenue streams through targeted online advertising, they made the decision to partner with the company.

After the September 19 launch, Greenspring’s Vice President of Production Cindy Todd had this to say: "We decided to take our Web sites and give them a complete overhaul -- make them useful, interesting, and interactive. While overseeing the creation of the site, I kept saying, ‘It has to be clean, look great, and everything has to be easy to find, but don't forget, we need to put about 500% more information on it than we have now and make it much more engaging so that it has something for everyone.’ As a team we managed to make it happen, and it’s better than I ever could have hoped for."

From the former Websites’ relatively static presence, with each online magazine offering only a few linked articles per issue, the sites have each exploded into a fully interactive Web presence, complete with searchable databases for events, real estate, recipes and restaurants, as well as surveys, blogs, and streaming video.

“It’s been really satisfying to work with Greenspring Media because of the rich content created by their extremely talented team and the lengths to which they were willing to go to make their new sites so valuable to their readers,” commented Godengo CEO Tim Sullivan. “We are excited to be working with the leading city and regional magazine publishers. They have a deep understanding of and passion for the communities they serve that shines through in their publications. By extending that passion and knowledge to the Web we are creating an online experience that can’t be found on other local media websites.”

For advertisers, Godengo offers the opportunity to target ads toward an affluent demographic in context to specific categories (e.g. “Food and Wine”), geography, demographics or behavior. As a rule, regional lifestyle magazines carry a devoted readership with impressive demographics – well-traveled, cultured, and in possession of

disposable income. With online ads specifically targeted toward known interests, advertisers reap the maximum benefit of marketing dollars spent, and consumers are directed toward products and services relevant to their needs and lifestyles.

The resulting revenue generated by placing ads in an environment where they will reach the right audience produces immediate and measurable results. Godengo has seen traffic expand and ad revenue increase shortly after the launches of its other clients, which include Palm Springs Life, Sacramento Magazine, St. Louis Magazine, and Oakland and Alameda Magazines.
