Honolulu Magazine
Honolulu Magazine (www.honolulumagazine.com) and Hawaii Business (www.hawaiibusiness.com), both published by Pacific Basin Communications, went live with the new sites in late December and late January, respectively. Honolulu Magazine, Hawaii's oldest magazine, prides itself on being a mix of cultural information for Hawaii residents as well as a source of informative articles on contemporary island living. Publisher Scott Schumaker understands the importance of a strong web presence in carrying out his magazine's mission. "Honolulu Magazine is deeply rooted in our community, having been founded in 1888 under a royal charter from King David Kalakaua. Our new web site adds a real modern savvy to our brand and allows us to deliver to our advertisers an ever-increasing affluent audience that is passionate about their city."
Adds Kam Napier, Editor at Honolulu,"For more than 120 years we have been keeping Island residents and select visitors informed, educated and entertained. By extending our brand onto the worldwide web, we will be able to enhance both the information we provide and the audience of readers we reach."
Hawaii Business
The publisher and editorial staff at Hawaii Business had similar goals for their new website. Hawaii Business, based in Honolulu, is the islands' premier source of information for and about businesses in Hawaii, such as the much-anticipated lists of the Best Places to Work, Top 250 Companies, Black Book Executives and Top Financial Advisors. On the new site, this complex information is now presented in easy-to-use searchable databases (part of the Rivista suite of tools) rather than as flat data, providing a better level of service to their readers.David Tumilowicz, publisher of the magazine, was very pleased with the process of setting up the new site. He praised the whole team at Godengo, saying they "were tremendous to work with, exceedingly patient, and at all times, utterly professional."
Diablo Magazine
Closer to Godengo's home base in the San Francisco bay area, neighbor Diablo magazine launched on January 2, marking the new year with a new custom design from Godengo's Jeff Fohl. Long a member of the Godengo Ad Network, Diablo wanted to switch to the Rivista platform not only to ease the burden of uploading content but also to take advantage of the monetizing features in the system, such as the Geobase tool. The new site also highlights blogs, resource guides and video focussed on life in the San Francisco bay area.
