Google Has YouTube Channel for Webmaster Blog

Joel Gales Sullivan

Google has a new channel on YouTube devoted to helpful instructive videos for webmasters. There I recently watched the somewhat lengthy State of the Index 2008 video with interest. In it, Cutts covers Google developments aimed at webmasters in the past year and their goals for 2009. One of the most interesting tidbits that I took away from this video was that last year Google started using optical character recognition (OCR) to "read" some .pdf and Flash files. Cutts stressed that while the technology isn't perfect, they are making headway with how much they can learn crawling a non-text based site.
