Export Feature Change in Rivista Database Tools

Joel Gales Sullivan

The calendar, Geobase and custom databases (CDEs) now export to the .xlxs file type rather than .xls (although the Form Editor file format remains in .xls for export). With the CDEs and calendar, you can also export to .csv file formats.

The reason behind this change is that we are moving toward being able to export and then re-import more seamlessly and with a minimun of data clean-up. The import feature will be upgraded soon, and I will let you know in this blog when that happens.

If you cannot open the .xlsx file, you have two options:

  1. you can download the free suite of products here http://www.openoffice.org/. Open Office is a product line that competes with MS Office.
  2. you can install a plug-in that will convert the file type.

At the time of this writing, some of our sites will have no export function at all. We are working to integrate the new code for these sites, and expect to have the function available for everyone soon.

If you have questions or need any help with this new feature, please submit a Mantis ticket so that we can address your issue.
