Don't Forget to Optimize Your Blog Posts for Search Engines

By Joel Gales Sullivan
Blogs are a great way to increase traffic to your site, but if you aren't using the tools in Rivista to optimize your posts for the search engines, you won't gain all the advantages associated with blogging.

Keep your keywords in mind as you write and title your post. Pick a few keywords you want to focus on and gracefully work those into your content. If you can, put the same keywords into the title (if it's not awkward), the meta description and the first paragraph of your post. Words toward the beginning of the main content of the post (the article body) will carry more weight, so start your first sentence out using those keywords.

Another good way to drive traffic is to enable the commenting feature. You can use this input from your audience to determine the subject of your next blog post. For example, if an article on dating received a lot of comments, you know what your readers want to learn more about. Following up a popular post with an article on a related topic will bring more readers back to your site.

Finally, use the linking tool to link to your other posts when you bring up a previously discussed topic. Remember to use good keywords in your links to most accurately relay their subject to search engines.
